Extended family photo sessions are some of the most meaningful sessions I photograph—and often the ones families treasure the most over time. There’s something incredibly powerful about gathering multiple generations in one place, slowing down for an hour, and preserving a season of life that will never look quite the same again.
Life moves quickly. Kids grow, parents age, schedules get busier, and time together becomes harder to come by. Extended family photos freeze a moment in time—one where everyone is together, exactly as they are right now.
One of the most special parts of extended family photos is seeing generations side by side. Grandparents with grandchildren. Adult siblings together again. Cousins laughing, hugging, and growing up together.
These are the images that become heirlooms—the ones framed in hallways, passed down through albums, and looked at decades from now. Long after trends change and children grow up, these photos hold incredible value.
I've had the honor of photographing this family for a few years when everyone is in town for the holidays. I love that they make it priority to take the photos when everyone is together! How fun it has been watching their family grow!
